About

Hello Onahan families!

My name is Rina Tow, and I have been teaching 7/8th grade science at Onahan for seven years. Most of of my 22 years as an educator have been in middle school science with CPS, but I also have experience in special education with an emphasis on learning disabilities.

My passion for the natural world, inquiry, and engineering/design led me to the field of science, but my love of inspiring young minds is what led me to teaching. My hope for your child this year is that they will develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, ask questions, and develop a love of learning. In science class, we use the design model and the scientific process, which involves some "failure". But don't let that word scare you! Mistakes lead to learning, redesigning, and perseverance. Just like scientists in the real world, we learn by analyzing what went right or wrong, and then pivoting to continually improve. I assure you that this year your child will become more resilient and more confident in their skills.

Welcome to the 2025-26 school year! 🧪
