Hello Onahan Community!

 

My name is Matt Hyland, and I'm thrilled to be starting my fifth year at Onahan and tenth year in education overall. Before joining Onahan, I taught 5th-8th grade math, 6th/7th grade ELA, and Algebra I in River Forest, Mt. Prospect, and North Riverside. Here at Onahan, I've had the pleasure of teaching 6th and 7th grade math, and Algebra I. I especially love teaching middle school math, particularly 6th grade, as it's rich with real-world applications that I enjoy connecting to the curriculum.

 

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Middle Level Education from Illinois State University, with endorsements in middle school Math and ELA. Later, I completed my Master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction with an ESL endorsement from Concordia University Chicago.
