About Me

Welcome to first grade! My name is Patty McHugh. I have my master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction and an English Second Language endorsement. I am happy to say that I have been teaching first grade at Onahan for over 20 years. Foundational learning begins in first grade. We will be working to build reading, writing and math skills. We will also build connections with creative and fun activities that support emotional growth. First grade lays the groundwork for how students view school for years to come. My goal is to foster a love of learning so that students are eager and excited to be at school. Our class moto is "Keep moving forward together".

Teaching at Onahan has been very rewarding. I am happy to work with an excellent staff and to be a part of such a supportive community. I live nearby with my husband and four children, and our dog Snoopy.  We love spending time together having family dinners and watching the Cubs.
