Hello, Onahan Families! My name is Lindsey Hammersmith and I am so excited to be starting my twentieth year as a teacher at Onahan! I was lucky enough to do my student teaching here in 2004 while at DePaul University, where I received my bachelors degree in elementary education and an endorsement in social science. In 2013, I also received my ELL (English Language Learner) endorsement from National Louis University.
Before DePaul, I attended Resurrection High School and St. Edward Grammar School, so the northwest side has always been my home. I’ve been married to my husband Justin for fourteen years and am a mom to two wonderful kids, Harper (12) and Caden (10). When I’m not working, I love rooting for the Cubbies, reading, watching HGTV, drinking coffee and going for walks with my dog, Olive.
I look forward to another great year in second grade, watching my students grow to their full academic, social and emotional potential. It is truly a joy watching their progress throughout the year and it’s one of the many things that makes this profession so rewarding.
