What is Friends of Onahan (FOO)?

Friends of Onahan (FOO) is a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting and enhancing the budgetary needs of Onahan Elementary, our local CPS school. Onahan serves more than 670 students from Pre-K through 8th grade and thrives thanks to its active, diverse, and dedicated parent community.

FOO began as a way to fund the Rockets Program for upper grades, but in August 2018, it was revitalized with renewed energy and a broader vision—to set and achieve school-wide goals that benefit all students.

Through hosting social events and fostering partnerships with local businesses, we bring parents, neighbors, and the wider community together. Our goal is simple yet powerful: to strengthen school spirit, enrich student opportunities, and build pride in our Northwest Side community.

Together, we can make a lasting impact—and have fun while doing it!
